As a LCSW my capacity to engage is rooted in my study of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Humanist approaches. When I am listening to someone share about the loss of a loved one, I acknowledge I am often listening to a love story, and working to balance the experiences of joy and the pain as not opposites but experiences that can exist at the same time is a major aspect of working though grief and loss. Adjusting to life following a major diagnosis, transition, responsibility, or other life change calls for new tools for coping and additional support, with someone who has the language to make one feel seen and understood. The clinical relationship with a therapist is a safe place to talk about topics one's peers are not prepared to talk about or society has deemed taboo.
Sessions are available in person at partner facilities and via secure telehealth, so care fits the realities of each patient's day.
